College Funding Advice in Virginia | Mark Maiewski
In 2000, Mark Maiewski launched his college financial planning company in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Since then he’s worked with hundreds of families. Mark is also the author of the book titled The Secrets Of Paying For College That I Guarantee No One Has Dared To Share With You.
He is one of only 417 certified college planning specialists in the country and has been widely recognized as Virginia’s leading college planning authority. Over the past ten years he has created a service that caters to parents who are frustrated with the college planning process and are rightfully scared of needlessly losing their hard earned dollars.
His service makes sure college bound students are accepted to their first choice schools and maximizes their ability to secure endowment and scholarship money from schools. He then works with parents to lower their out of pocket costs through cash flow strategies and tax scholarships, as he walks them through the college funding maze, eliminating the administrative nightmare.
Mark graduated from University of Maryland College Park’s School of Business with a Bachelors of Science in Business Management. He is a member of the National Institute of Certified College Planners and the National Association of College Funding Advisors. He has teamed with WHSV TV3 in Harrisonburg on their College 101 project, been featured in the Northern Augusta Journal, the Shenandoah Journal, and interviewed on Christian radio station WLTK and Charlottesville’s #1 talk show WINA. Recently, he has co-authored another book titled Jump-Start Your Success with James Malinchak, co-author of Chicken Soup For The College Soul and two time National College Speaker of the Year, and Brian Tracy, one of America’s leading authorities on the development of human potential and personal effectiveness and renown author of over a dozen business books.
Why He Founded College Funding Advisors, LLC
“At that time, I had an 11 year-old daughter, a 6 year-old son, and, $10,000 from their grandparents for their college education. I knew that if I didn’t do something soon, I would be borrowing a whole lot of money! My primary goal was simply to provide them with most of the funding, but not all of it. I learned early in life that if you have a vested interest in whatever you do or own, not only will you do better, but you’re way more likely to make it last. This goes back to my first car, for which I spent $1700. It was a “racing” green VW Super Beetle. I paid for it by saving by money from (Yes!) picking up golf balls on a driving range by hand for a dollar an hour. It took me three hard years to save the money. But, when I bought it? It was mine & I was proud of it.”
